Critical Reflection

I felt that the different images that I created for my game were up to a really high standard and fitted in well with my game. Originally there were supposed to be 6 different levels in my game, so I did create and design the levels and objects for every level but due to time restraints I created my game with 3 different levels, I made them up to a very high standard I feel. This was my first time of doing the art for a game and I feel I did very well, the reason I feel this is I was able to create all the assets that were needed within my game.

As I progressed throughout the course and gained more and more skills on Photoshop, I was able to add shadows, textures and filters into my images.

This is an example of the skills I have learnt and obtained. On the image on the left, the colour is just solid colour and the image on the right is what the final design looks like, I’ve created shadows and highlights on to the ‘hair’ of the helmet, this was to give it a more realistic look. I created them using the graphics tablet and using the brush tool with the colour red darker and the base of the ‘hair’ and a lighter red at the top of the ‘hair’.

I came across some difficulties with the Rome setting in GameSalad because on the game my setting was very bright and it was pretty impossible to see the obstacles and character, the way I got round this problem was that I changed the colour of the background a slight grey in GameSalad, thus allowing my character and obstacles to be seen easily.
