Task 3 Developing Ideas (BOA Digital Logo Designs)

These are my original designs for my logo, I have created 6 logos but have only chosen 4 to produce on Photoshop. 

This is the first logo that I created. I used the font “space age” from the website dafont.com, the reason that I used this font is because it’s the one that is used for the official BOA logo. I have included a few numbers in the name that replaces the letters “i” and “a”, the reason I have done this is because numbers are very important when it comes to digital equipment. I drew the plug using a graphics tablet and Adobe Illustrator, the reason I have put a plug in the logo is because a plug is used for all digital things, in order for them to turn on. I have included the USB logo within the letter D because a USB port is very important for people to be able to connect certain things to the computer or other digital equipment.

This is the 2nd logo that I created. I also used the dafont.com website to find a font for this logo, the font I used was called “dead space”, the reason I chose this font was because it’s the same font used in the “Dead Space” video game and it fitted in nicely with the background that I created. I created the background to make it look like space, the reason I did this was because using digital equipment can take you anywhere, I feel that there is no limit as to what you can do and where it can take you. I added the plug into my logo again for the same reason that it is an essential for most digital things.

This is the 3rd logo that I created. Again, I used the website dafont.com to find a font for this logo, the font I went for was called “minecraft” this is the font that is used in the game minecraft, this can be associated with the digital side of BOA because minecraft is used on a digital device and a lot of people recognize what Minecraft is.

This is my 4th and final logo design. The font I used was called “pac-font” and was taken from the website dafont.com, the reason I used this font was again because it’s a font of a very famous game; “pacman” and is very easily noticeable and associated with digital things.

Evaluation

I created 4 different logos, using both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, which is exactly what the brief asked me to use. For the first logo I used the same font as the actual BOA logo, so people know that it’s part of BOA and that is also what the brief asked for, for the other logos I used different fonts but kept them relative to digital things. I included a drawing of a plug which I created from scratch, this was because everything digital needs a plug to either be used or charged, the image fits it’s purpose. I used different tutorials on YouTube to help me create the background of a few logos, after that I basically used the skills I had acquired from the tutorials and just played around with the different effects and once I was happy I created my logo. Having started this brief after everyone else, I managed my time very effectively and had to stick to an even tighter schedule. Despite this I hit every deadline and I feel that I have done well to create 4 different logos and annotate them. In order to improve next time, I will go through more complex tutorials and that will in turn give me more skills and a better understanding of the different tools, helping me to make my logos look even better. I believe that my different logos look as professional as they could be, by someone with as little experience as me.

After receiving some feedback about my logos I realised that my logos didn’t exactly look as professional as they could of looked.

Mouse Design

So I decided to create a new logo, after looking at images on Google, I decided to use a mouse cursor as my logo because it represents digital things, I first drew my design on out on paper and scanned it in. Then using Adobe Illustrator, I created the mouse cursor, the reason I used Illustrator was because it would create the logo as a vector image. On Adobe Photoshop I then put the font over the top of the image, the font I used was Pixel Twist, I found the font on http://www.dafont.com . For the colour of the mouse cursor I used the traditional white colour and for the background I used a dark grey colour and added text, the text I added is the binary code of “BOA Digital” and added glow to the text. I have created 4 different logos but have kept with the same design.

The first 2 designs that I have created are the mouse cursor without the background, I used white for the colour of the mouse cursor and for the first logo I used the font “Pixel Twist” which I got from http://www.dafont.com the reason I used this font was because my mouse cursor is designed to look pixelated and so I thought the font should look pixelated too. The font I used for the second logo was called “MineCrafter” which I also got from http://www.dafont.com the reason I used this font was because minecraft is a game that you can play on both the computer and consoles.

The other 2 designs that I created are the mouse cursor that is in front of the background, I used the first design of the mouse cursor and put it on to a background, the background of the logo is dark grey and has green text which is the binary code of BOA Digital, I also added a glow to the text, in order to make the code stand out, the font I used is courier new. I changed the sizes of the logos in order to accommodate different places in which the logo might go on, for example posters, business cards and billboards.
